How much brighter is the 98% illuminated waxing Moon than Jupiter near opposition? It is certainly much easier to tell when they are side by side, separated by only 1.6°, such as in these photos, taken with a Sony DSC-HX300 camera at 02:07-11 UT (first 3 photos) and 02:47 UT (last photo). A structure of communication antennas sitting on top of a nearby building seemed to probe the pair, while internal reflections in the camera lens lent some adornment to the first image, where Earth`s natural satellite is seen 7.7 thousand times brighter than giant Jupiter.
