Details:
The day had been cloudy, even raining as temperatures reached above freezing, heavy cloud plagued the skies, but still I kept my optimism that tonight we would get some clearing whilst on the nightly tour. To our delight the clouds broke, enough to see a nice green aurora developing. Nothing could have prepared me for the colours I was then about to witness!! As the aurora developed the most intense reds I have ever seen started showing, even visible to the naked eye, coronas exploding above us. Reds, purples, greens, so many colours. I could not believe what I was seeing. The tour ended, all guests very happy so I headed back out on my own for some more aurora action. I decided to play about a bit with taking photos of the Lights over lapland van that has been my shared work van for the last 4 months when suddenly the green band I had been photographing turned into a blue tipped aurora! Reds and now blues! utterly crazy. It really was a night filled by a huge spectrum of colours!
