Details:
My magnetometer went wild last night as a Earth entered a fast flowing and highly geoeffective solar wind stream, creating bright aurora even down to lower latitudes over Europe. This chart shows the rate of change of Earth's magnetic field measured in the East/West direction before, during and after the event yesterday. This is the largest response measured so far this year and may be attributed to a moderate southerly interplanetary magnetic field linking with our own.
