I was taking a photo of the Ring around the Sun on 2-18-2016 at approximately 1300-1425. A few minutes later this Black arm emerged from under the Sun and then a white arm emerged. Nikon L840. Not sure what this was.

It looks to be a cloud (the white arm) casting its shadow (the black arm) on a lower cloud layer. I have imaged similar phenomena with altocumulus clouds casting their shadows on lower atmospheric haze and smog with the same effect.
