I stepped outside on the evening of January 20 and and was surprised by the wonderful display of one circle around the moon and another one on top of it. Never seen the second circle before, any explanation? shot with Sony A77 and Rokinon 8mm fisheye, 30 sec exposure.

Hi, nice pictures! The halo in question is parhelic circle and there are also upper tangent arc and of course 22° halo.

To be precise : it s a Paraselenic circle, a parhelic circle... created by Moon.
