It had a more horizontal trajectory. Wasn't terribly fast... May just be an unfocused pic of a jet. Nikon d7100 f16 100 iso

I am not sure either I have been seeing more and more of these lately of the Western horizon as the Sun sets, I have taken many pictures of them and have really never discerned what they are...

aircraft contrail. check out video of Jackson Hole Meteor & Russian Meteor, you will clearly see the difference in speed...
