Just back from a late shift guiding for Lights over Lapland. Got into bed a bit cold and bit tired then one of the drivers drops me a text with "nice aurora". Couldn't resist nipping out and grabbing a quick shot of the vans, the apartments and a lot of aurora! Had been nice aurora all night but the solar wind density had been really low although I guess that doesn't really matter when there's a co-rotating interaction region. This image was an exposure of 0.8 seconds at f/1.8 and iso 3200. The aurora was that bright that the photograph balanced even against the electric lights. Better hit the pillow as tomorrow I'm running a landscape workshop then an aurora one!
