Details:
I just had another successful night in the Arctic! The weather turned to be perfect just outside Inari in Lapland, Finland. I took my clients (a lovely Japanese couple) on top of the hill where the local television and radio mast is located. This gives an amazing view on Lake Inari, the biggest lake in Lapland (and 3rd biggest in Finland). For a couple of hours, a weak band of Aurora stayed above the lake, slowly growing and then suddenly retreating. And finally, we had like an explosion in the sky. At some point (1st photo), the needles were moving faster than I have ever seen! After a second outburst of Aurora (2nd photo), I brought my clients back to their hotel as they started getting really cold, and continued to another location that I love. There the Aurora continued dancing for a while (3rd photo), before I came back home to share this with spaceweather.com :-) Settings: 14mm, 3200iso, f/2.8, 1 to 20s exposure.
