Details:
After a week of cloudy weather I realized I might be able to catch some late Geminids if I hurried. I drove 20 miles out of the glare of city lights and immediately began to see bright meteors. It was easy to spot the Geminids by their characteristic green hue but there seemed to be another shower in competition with the Geminids. These were faint and extremely fast while the Geminids are slower and brighter. By daylight I had seen about 50 meteors and observed both comets. Very satisfying session.
