Details:
Recognizing the inherent limitations in resolution of my TS 115mm APO triplet/Baader wedge combination in capturing solar granules, I designed and constructed an 8" Solar Newton scope set on an EQ6 mount. Initial trials were disappointing with respect to focus but, upgrading to USB 3 to use the full potential of my ASI174MM resolved the problem. Now, with suitable viewing conditions, I can capture much improved images of granules and, ultimately sunspots when we get some good ones. It has been a fun exercise and, well worth the effort. As usual, best viewed in the enlarged window with a dark background.
