Details:
Have you ever seen a Flying Dutchman approaching an UFO? I did. Of course under closer observation my Flying Dutchman appeared to be a miraged ship, and my UFO appeared to be miraged Farallon Islands, but still... Not every day one could see ships and islands changing shape right in front of one eyes. The first ship was changing from simple superior mirage(Inverted image above erect one ) to 5-image mirage with Inverted images between erect ones. The second ship displayed 3-image mirage. The third ship displayed another phenomena -towering. Towering is yet another form of atmospheric refraction. With towering, objects seem to be stretched as you see with these containers and structures on the cargo ship. I also took videos of all three ships https://youtu.be/bmf5D5Qi-xQ https://youtu.be/8L3HjJgq-sA https://youtu.be/wD3Q6rK6Qnc Notice that no matter how the change of the ships and islands is changing the miraged object stay inside the duct. The pictures are screenshots from the video.
