COMEDY of AERRORS in ASTROPHOTOGRAPHY. Here's a quick lesson in how NOT to do excellent astrophotos. First, don't be in the best location. Choose the one where the powerlines and utility poles fill the foreground. Second, pay no attention to what's happening...especially when the International Space Station is making a surprise appearance. Third, get in a hurry and start the exposure too soon , instead of waiting another 2-3 seconds. This way you miss capturing ISS piercing the heart of Venus as it strolls by . Aaarrrrgggghhhh. The second photo is what I arose at 5 AM to take from my neighborhood in Cody Wyoming USA. It is quite lovely and well executed by a fully awake human. Info: Nikon D5300 DSLR with old Nikkor 35mm f/2 AIS manual lens. ISO 1600 for 13 secs. at f/2.8
