Details:
Looked outside and to the south and realized that we had actual active aurora. Thanks to our location only 900 miles from the North Pole they are usually too far south of us, hence when they are visible they are "southern lights". This is my first time seeing them so needless to say I was ecstatic. They were a faint green to the naked eye but gorgeous with a little bit of exposure.
