Details:
I waited all day yesterday for the clouds to clear to take some images of AR2443 that’s now positioned right in the middle of the Sun…by late afternoon, I knew if I didn’t take the shots right then and there, then I would have missed my opportunity…so I set up everything and hoped for the best. I was quite surprised to see that I’d captured quite a bit of detail, even though the sky was so cloudy…thunderstorms hit just 20 minutes later, but it didn’t matter…because I got my shots :-) The white light images were taken with a Meade 80mm refractor with a glass solar filter attached to the front of the lens and using a Canon 700D camera. The close up image is just one single shot with quite a lot of cloud covering the surface and using a 5x Barlow lens, the exposure was 1/200th second and ISO 800. The full solar image was using a 2x Barlow lens, 15 images were stacked in RegiStax6 with settings @1/400th second exposure and ISO400.
