After weeks of being disappointing by cloudy nights, I was finally fortunate enough to experience a beautiful display of Auroras over Lake Michigan during the morning hours of 9/20/2015. Some of the Auroral ribbons were bright enough to reflect off the water (this phenomenon being visible to the naked eye). My camera setup: -Camera: Nikon D90 DSLR -Lens: AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-105mm (f/3.5-5.6G) ED, VR w/Tiffen 67mm UV Protector Filter. I typically shoot with ISO settings in the 1600-2500 range. 25-30 Second exposures. F-stop set @ f/3.5. Many thanks to the people at Spaceweather.com and NOAA/Ovation for providing us with the lowdown on cosmic happenings.
