Details:
It was overcast when I went to bed, but I set my alarm for 3:00 am EDT, thinking that it might be cleared off by then. I didn't really know, but was hoping that there might be a bit of aurora activity at that time. When I awoke at 3:00 am, I did indeed see some fairly bright auroras shining through a bit of moving clouds, so I got up and headed out to check this out. Ended up staying out until nearly 6:00 am. Not much color other than green, the auroras stayed mostly in a shifting arc to the north, but at times were also shooting and dancing like fast moving flames till they reached nearly overhead. Shot with Pentax K-5 with 10-17mm fisheye lens set to 10mm, ISO 6400, f/3.5, shutter speeds of 6 and 8 seconds.
