Details:
This was an all night event here - when I headed out at around 10:00pm EDT on Sept 8, 2015, the auroras had already begun. They waxed and waned throughout the night, at times with bursts so bright that I was scrambling to not overexpose my shots. At other times, they appeared to be settling down, and I would start to head back indoors, only to find that the auroras would come back to life again. In the end, I didn't return home until after 6:00am, and the final burst (in the minutes leading up to and around 6:00am) proved to be the most colorful and beautiful of the whole night. The images here were captured in these final minutes of the early morning before I went home. Shot with Pentax K-5 with Pentax 10-17mm fisheye lens set to 10mm. ISO 3200 and 6400, F/3.5, shutter speeds ranging from 1 to 10 seconds.
