Details:
I first checked the sky at shortly before midnight EDT and at that time, even though there was still quite a bit of cloud cover and the moon was still pretty high in the sky as well, I could see a little aurora activity low on the northern horizon. I decided to get a little sleep and got up a bit after 3:00am. By then the moon was just setting, and the auroras had picked up enough that I went out to catch some. Although they never really spread much over the sky, they were at times quite bright. Still going even as dawn was breaking in the northeastern sky. Shot with Pentax K5 with Pentax 10-17mm fisheye lens set to 10mm, f/3.5, ISO 6400 and 3200, shutter speed of 10 seconds.
