Details:
Today the sky over southern Alberta was so obscured by smoke from fires in Washington state that the disk of the Sun was easily and safely visible at times with the naked eye, as an orange disk in the smokey skies. Sunspot group AR2403 was visible to the naked eye, and easily visible with binoculars without filters. However, as the smoke thinned the Sun got far too bright to attempt such filterless observations. I shot the image without filters, to show the view naked eye (the wide view) and as it appeared in binoculars (the telephoto lens view).
