So lucky!!!! This is my first time seeing the northern lights and it happened at 38 000ft above the Atlantic Ocean on flight BA092 from Toronto to London. I could grab my camera and get a few decent pictures, although a bit noisy. Nikon D5200 - 13s at ISO1600 - 10s at ISO2000 - 10s at ISO800

Wow so lucky indeed! Loving the last one with the Big Dipper :-) Incredibly sharp pictures for 10-13s exposure from an airplane. How did you achieve this?

I was quite surprised by the results as well, although I have plenty of blurry pictures besides these three. There was almost no turbulence and I tried to hold the camera as steadily as I could, lens against the window and body against the seat. Plus I shielded the light from the cabin with a blanket. Strange contortions haha
