Details:
"Khonsu and Ra" Khonsu, meaning "traveller", was the ancient Egyptian god of the moon, and Ra was the ancient Egyptian solar deity. Yesterday evening (August 20th), before sunset, high altitude smoke from a distant California wildfire partially obscured the sun, allowing me to use the smoke as a solar filter. I combined that image with one of the crescent moon, shot the night before. Both images were shot with a Canon Rebel T6s, at 500mm, without filters. As a reminder, you should never stare directly at the sun, even if it is obscured by smoke or clouds, without proper filters and optics. This photo was captured without looking through the viewfinder, to prevent eye damage.
