Details:
The photos, taken with a Canon SX60 HS camera, show Mercury and the Moon 3.1° apart around 21:00 UT. The first photo shows the pair amidst clouds and the colors of the evening twilight over Rio. Mercury is below the Moon and to its right. The second photo shows the Moon illuminated only by earthshine, as the brighter part of its disc was covered by clouds. Note the bluish coloration of the lunar disc when it is being illuminated only by sunlight reflected by our blue planet.
