Details:
These four amazing images were captured while trying to photograph the large sunspot AR2396 through thick smoke haze. It does not appear because the sun was still too bright. Instead a surreal sequence was obtained which shows what appears to be a tadpole tail emerging from the sun just before it started to disappear below the horizon. This was not caused by any solar activity but was due to an extraordinary reflection of sunlight from wispy cloud and a column of smoke rising from behind the hills to the west of Mutare. It is late dry season here in Zimbabwe with almost daily veldt fires caused by traditional burning of vegetation. The pictures are all minus 2 stop exposures taken with a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ60 compact camera in Sunset mode with x60 zoom magnification.
