Details:
The upcoming evening appearance of Mercury will favor observers in the Southern Hemisphere. Its mean altitude was roughly 2 degrees as these photos were taken from 21:08 to 21:13 UT. The planet and the Sun were only 11.8 degrees apart. Seen below Jupiter in some of the photos, Mercury became barely visible to the naked eye when the Sun was 7 degrees below the horizon. That happened roughly 30 minutes after sunset. A Canon SX60 HS camera on tripod was used for the shots (manual mode).
