Comet C/2014 Q2 (Lovejoy)
What a comet!
What you see in this picture are my 10 shots of comet Lovejoy.
Since December 2014 this comet is my favorite celestial body.
Comet Lovejoy exceeded all expectations. The max. brightness was at 4 mag and after that it seemed like comet Lovejoy did not want to fade.
Additionally it is the first comet I saw with naked eye. (I started 2013 with observing comets, now I'm 17)
In this moment comet Lovejoy is 5 mag brighter than the MPC prediction!
With my equipment, a 5'' Newton Reflector (I have no tracking mount!), and my unmodified Canon 100D I managed to shot this super-comet 10 times in a timespan of 222 days.
I combined all my stacking and editing knowledge in GIMP to improve the results.
Hundreds of 1s exposure pictures (--->no tracking) combined in one image. (the overall amount of images used is more than 1000, but I made more than 3000)
What you see here is the result of hours of work.
I hope there will be an 11th picture soon. :)
