I've determined that Blue Moons are actually yellow , if observed thru Wyoming mountain air adulterated with a small amount of western wildfire smoke. My venue for photographing the Blue Moon of July 31, 2015 was the overlook at the summit of the Chief Joseph Scenic Highway. The Photographer's Ephemeris app told me the Moon would set between Sunlight Peak and Stinkingwater Peak in Wyoming's Absaroka Range near the Yellowstone Park boundary about 20 miles west , just as full sun was dawning. Used a Sigma 150-500 APO zoom for the closeup ( eq. focal length of 750mm) at f/11 with exposure bias of -0.7 , daylight color temp on a Nikon D5300. Evident in this scene is how much the Sunlight and Stinkingwayer glaciers have receded in recent decades due to climate change. The highway department weather tower was shot with a Nikon P7800, just for you Dr. Phillips...Space Weather indeed!
