Details:
While photographing for sprites, this rather bright (-8 magnitude fireball) appeared near my southeast horizon. The break between images (2 seconds) suggested the meteor was moving rather slow (perhaps 5 seconds in total). Each exposure was 5 seconds long (count blinking aircraft tail lights; 1 per second).
I witnessed the 2nd half of the event (bottom) and thought that it was a flare or aircraft turning on landing lights. However, very distance clouds are lit up suggesting a bright fireball.
Exposure 5 secs, iso 1000, Nikon d7000, Nikkor 35mm @ f/2.0.
Occurred ~ 21:42:15 - 21:42:22 MDT are start times for top and bottom image with 2 second gap.
