AR2390 with a bad seeing ! Since 2 days we have a very bad seeing in here though the sky is perfectly clear. This is due to high winds more than 30 mps as Meteoblue predicted them. This image is the best I did today within more than 30 videoes :-( The average seeing during the video as measured by the Solar Scintillating Monitor of Airylab was 2.38 arcsec ! Well: Istar TCR 204mm Basler 1920-155um camera 3000 frames within 18 seconds, Continuum + UV/IR Cut + Astrosolar ND3.8 Goodnite, Bernard.

Hi Bernard;

Seems that we are both plagued by air current issues. Short of moving ones observatory to the center of a lake (eg. Big Bear Solar Observatory) Im not sure what to do. Ive tried many options including: capturing more (500+ rather than only 300) frames; selecting less than 10% of the best when stacking; removing one of the extra ND filters from the Baader wedge so as to reduce gain and increase shutter speed during capture; using Default and Gaussian options, as well as Denoising in Registax stacking; other stacking software eg: AviStack 2; playing with denoising options in PSP7 eg; despeckle, edge preserving smooth, etc; the list goes on. Havent tried AiryLabs SSM though. So, how does Phillipe get such gorgeous granules ? If you ever discover the secret, let me know - meanwhile. well keep working at it.

Ive uploaded some images from todays captures to SpaceWeather.

Cheers,

Bill

Hi Bill,
Philippes secret ? Yes, I know !
He puts his tripod in a circular children rubber pond filled with fresh water so he has a small Big Bear S.O.
The main issue is with electricity.
LOL.
Bernard.
