Details:
On Saturday evening 18th July, we could not make it to a dark sky site, so here is the view of our Moon, Comet Panstarrs C/2014 Q1, Venus & Jupiter as imaged from our study window under in the light polluted suburbs of Brisbane. The wide field shot showing the comet, Moon, Venus & Jupiter was taken with a Canon 100mm F2.8 lens, ISO100, F5.6, 15 secs. The telephoto shot was taken with a Canon 400mm F5.6 lens. This is a blended combination of 3x20 sec frames at F5.6, exposed at ISO100, ISO400 and ISO800 respectively to manage the extreme differences in brightness levels. The blending via Layers in CS6 has artificially bloated the comet nucleus. The backgrounds have been processed to overcome the mucky, reddish-brown hues of suburban light pollution and to reduce some severe banding artefacts. Cheers Dennis
