Details:
There was a spectacular NLC display in Alberta on June 13/14. The NLC were bright and were accompanied by a brilliant aurora that impinged on the NLC display. The first photo also shows a couple of jet contrails, which tend to provide a good tutorial on what cirrus clouds look like compared with NLC; note the much duller color. Sony A65, 400 ISO, first picture 50mm lens, f/2.0, 1.6s exposure, 0144 local time, second picture ~200mm telephoto, f/5.0, 2.5s exposure, 0227 local time.
