Details:
Those of us in Ohio yesterday evening witnessed an interesting display of the Sun without a solar filter.
The clouds acted in such a way as to block the majority of the Sun's light and allow a bit of it through with minimal distortion or color loss (which typically happens with clouds.) In other words, it acted almost exactly like a solar filter.
A question that arises from this: if displays like this are possible, then how come we doubt ancient peoples knew about sunspots?
