Details:
I was aware of the possibility of auroras sometime in the coming day or so, but not expecting them this night. I just happened to walk down by the lake a little after midnight, expecting to head in quickly for bed - but noticed a bit of activity in the northern sky. So I gathered up my gear and headed out - not to return home until around 4:30 am. Had a bit of cloud blow over for awhile and I almost quit then, but was glad I waited it out, because once the sky cleared off again, the auroras had picked up and were now dancing across most of the visible sky. Shot with a Pentax K-5 with Pentax 10-17mm fisheye lens set to 10mm, f/3.5, ISO 6400, 10 second exposures.
