After I was missing the main storm on May 12th night / May 13th morning, I decided on May 13th late in the evening to go out and maybe with little bit of luck to get a glimpse of the remaining storm which was fade-in away quickly. When I headed out the Kp factor was 6 indicating storm and by the time I arrived on location dropped dramatically to a Kp of 4 to my disappointment. I was amazed to see even at 11 pm wasn’t completely dark only after 111.30 pm was starting getting a small green arch over the horizon from east to west. The arch was changing shape very slowly until after midnight around 12:11 am, when everything started moving really fast getting different shapes from pillars to curtains and what was really unique, was the purple colour which was all over the sky. Never seen such much purple, sometimes grading into pink, sometimes flanked by yellow and greenish bands. At 3:30 am the first light of the day came out and the show was over. What an amazing “PURPLE NIGHT” I spent out there….. Camera Used: NIKON CORPORATION NIKON D800 Exposure Time: 10,15/1 Aperture: f/2.8 ISO: 1250, 2500, 3200 Date Taken: May 14, 2015 12:11 am
