Details:
I was flying to London from Los Angeles, with a window seat behind the wing on the port side of a United Boeing 777, where I spotted a bright green aurora through the window behind me (I didn't have one) while flying across Hudson Bay and northern Quebec. So reclined my seat and shot a series of photos with my 10-year old Canon 5D and a 50mm f1.8 lens. Most were taken at full aperture and ~2 seconds at 1600 ISO, the max for that camera. The ride was a bit bumpy, the focusing was all guesswork, ambient light in the cabin was hard to block out, and so was the bright light at the end of the wing. But the results weren't bad, considering.
