Dolphin 3 with contrail
Taken by Ralf Vandebergh on May 1, 2015 @
Number 3 of the 5 existing Beluga Dolphins, the most impressive planes in the European sky. Captured with 10 inch Newtonian telescope and tracked fully manually with secondary scope at 6x magnification. Distance to the plane was 22 kilometers. I have attached an image of Jupiter taken with the same imaging scale for indication of the sampling. Observing conditions were difficult despite clear sky as there was heavy backlight with sun in immediate vicinity causing very low image contrast.
