Details:
With bright summer nights taking over, there was only a small window of opportunity tonight to catch some auroras (0:11am - 2:20am). I checked the data around 0.30 and it looked that there could be a little something in the sky. Outside my house I barely saw a faint arc, so I headed out to Vihiluoto.
When I took this photo at 1.28am, the sun was 11 degrees below the horizon. As you see in the photo, the aurora not only had to fight against the twilight but also the city lights of Oulu on the right and the bright Moon to its left.
I uploaded the same photo with and without the brightest stars. It was amazing to see such a sky show late in April, just before the bright nights.
For two more days auroras can theoretically be seen here.
Here is the camera data, you'll notice it was quite bright out there: Nikon D700, 14mm, f/2.8 and 5 seconds at ISO200.
