Details:
Beluga Dophin 3 flying in cruiseflight (30.000 feet) over Maastricht but captured from a location 20 kilometers east of the city. This large observing angle is needed to have a good view of the remarkable head of the plane. 10 inch Newtonian, manually tracked. Observing conditions were difficult despite clear skies because of heavy backlight with sun in vicinity, causing the image to have only very low contrast and resulting in a noisy result. So there is room for improvement, however I'm very satisfied because it was my first image of a Beluga after long hunting!
The Beluga Dolphin is one of the most remarkable planes visible in the European skies. There are only 5 Belugas and they are used to transport plane parts from the different Airbus manufacturer plants. This one, flying from Hamburg to Toulouse was probably transporting a fuselage.
