Details:
This red auroral cloud was observed in the western sky on the second of the two clear nights we had for this northern lights display.

The lights were not nearly as pronounced as on the previous night. However, this odd red cloud was interesting, as it appeared and then began to pulsate in brightness several times in about 10 minutes, going from quite bright to nearly invisible.

The Rosette Nebula is seen beneath the cloud, just before it set behind the treeline. Its elevation at this time was about +4 degrees.

This is a single 75-second exposure at ISO3200, using a Canon 60Da and an F1.4 50mm lens at F2.2. The camera was mounted on an Ioptron SkyTracker platform. Time was 05:44 UT on March 19, 2015.
