Details:
I was verklempt after missing Saturday night's amazing aurora show in Fairbanks, Alaska while I was in Anchorage, Alaska and then, even more so, when the show started in Anchorage and I was stuck at the Anchorage airport waiting to find out if we would be able to get home. People were texting me telling me how incredible the lights were, but I had to resign myself to missing out on a big one and hoping that something would still be happening when/if I actually got home. I ended up falling asleep after several peeks out the window once we hit 10,000 ft. and above that revealed nothing but dark blue skies. About 20 minutes later, I awoke to this scene!! I scrambled to get my camera, which I had prepped with my 24mm 1.4 lens "just in case". I started shooting and realized the folks behind me had their light on which was causing reflections off the window so I grabbed my jacket and held it over my head against the window with one hand and my camera with the other hand while I leaned over my window seat sleeping kiddo and started shooting away. We were beginning our descent so I didn't have much time but tried to make the most of it.
