Details:
This picture shows the International Space Station (ISS) moving right in front of the Moon. You can also see Venus and Mars behind the tree, left of the house.
What you can't see in this picture is the disappointment of the astronomer (me) missing the shoot through the telescope... While I had the telescope pointed at the Moon and the camera ready to burst a series of fast pictures at the time the ISS was flying in front of the Moon, I did not do a good job at keeping track of time and the ISS flew in front of the Moon while I did not have the remote control in my hands. The transit is so fast (0.6 seconds) that there is no time to grab the remote and shoot. Lesson learned...
Picture taken on February 23rd from Bloomington, IN. Canon Rebel XT (350d) + Fish eye Tamron 8mm. 84 seconds exposure time @100 ISO.
