Tonight was a wonderful display for the start of the Chinese new year . As the interplanetary magnetic field tilted south , it opened a massive gap in the magnetosphere and the the solar wind stream poured in towards earth . What a display. The colours where just stunning from these corona's that just seem to go on and on all night long. The night ended hear in Skibotn ,Troms with heavy clouds moving in around 1230 am . Happy new year. Awesome ! What a bonus it must be to see these so often. I do not envy the temperatures you have to cope with though !
