Details:
Comet Lovejoy's coma is still at naked eye visibility, though just barely from my dark sky location.

This image is a stack of two 190-second exposures taken using a StellarVue 70mm F6 ED refractor and a Canon 60Da at ISO6400. Sky conditions - Transparency: Good, Seeing: Fair-Good, Temperature: -15C

The image spans 2.0x1.5 degrees and captures an interesting variety of objects at greatly varying distances. The Iridium satellite is orbiting the Earth at a height of 780 km. Comet Lovejoy was 144 million km (8 light-minutes) from Earth on this night. The brightest star (near image centre) is +6.5 magnitude HIP9163 and is about 1,140 light-years distant. Just above the comet's tail and halfway between that star and the coma is galaxy PGC7197 at magnitude +14.4 and a distance of 290 million light-years!
