Tonight I decided to have my first attempt at stacking, I have had the program (deep sky stacker) for a while but it seems like a complicated process, I do not even know what darks and flats and dark flats and offset/bias files are. But it couldnt hurt just to have a play about the programe with so I selected some photos I took of Comet C/2014 Q2 Lovejoy and used those. I believe with stacking the more photos you stack the better the image will be, I only used 14 as I was just keen to see if the stacking made any improvement at all, even with no real understanding of what I was doing. Next time I will hopefully know what the dark and flats are, I think i figured out that lights are the photos that you want to use for stacking. Anyway I seem to have managed to stack the images and I think it is an improvment, it seems a bit to light, maybe i have to adjust contrast or the light settings, but it certainly seems less grainy compared to the image which has not been stacked (but I did adjust the exposure) So can anyone tell the difference between the stacked and non stacked images?
