Great pictures of a spectacular halo! These are sun halos indeed. The white bright spot is a parhelion which is positioned at 120 degrees azimuthal distance from the Sun (i.e. with the sun in South, the parhelion is in EastNorthEast). The white arc is a fragment of the parhelic circle, a light ring which passes through the sun and runs parallel to the horizon at solar elevation and indeed does not circumference the sun.
