Details:
Superb tail display from comet Lovejoy. Hope it will continue to do so. The frames were acquired on January 16th, with an 8″ F/5 Newtonian telescope equipped with a Baader MPCC (coma corrector), and the trusty Canon 550D at ISO 800 and 1600. The larger tail panorama is a 4 image mosaic, each frame a 5 minute exposure. The slightly smaller but with colors tail image is a 2frameX3imageX5minute mosaic. The even smaller image showing the tail is a 13X1minute stack. This one shows some finer jets. Also, there is a comparison image showing perhaps better the details in the comet tail.
