Hi Brent- Just saw your nice photo of Comet Lovejoy here in spaceweather, then the Youtube link here.

I am very curious to view tonight if we have clearing here in Portland Oregon in the Northwest US as I use my 28 year old 10 Coulter Odyssey f/4.5 Dobsonian.

Can you indicate how long between exposures in this Youtube video *or how many exposures?, that seems to show the comet moving at a considerably fast rate in the telescope, or also that you used a slight eyepiece projection, that magnification shows the comet movement in such short time, maybe an hour or so say? Also can you indicate what camera and shutter exposure time, ISO, lens used? Id like to plan on photographing.

Thanks for any further info.

Hi Mark,
I listed the exposers in the video link.I used mod. canonT3I, 30 second-ISO 1600 frames, Prime focus, f10 on a Nexstar8SE scope on a CGEM mount,Unguided. Only used the RA/DEC location of the comet off my star chart,i centered it in frame, and just let the camera run. I got 96 frames in total then it went behind the house.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the info Brent.

Sorry I missed your texted data in Youtube earlier.

Very nice work. Still wondering if I dont understand, are your 96 frames in total video an entire run within only a few minutes? Again, to reiterate, the comet seems to be moving quite fast against the backdrop of stars. Or are your 96 frames taken over an hour or so?

Thanks again for any further info,

I used 30 second, custom white balenced, unguided, ISO1600 ,F6.3 expousers on a 8inch scope on CGEM mount. Yes, 96 total frames at 30 seconds a piece added to windows movie maker at i think it was 0.25 second spacing in 720HD , i shot on it until the Comet went behind my roof line.
