Gerald, it just does not get any better than this - BRAVO!! . . . but what is the slightly diffuse object adjacent to the inner coma at ~ the 5 oclock position?

An absolutely beautiful photo !
I think the object is a background star shining through the comets coma.
If you zoom in on the comet it is clearly separate.

Gerald, What telescope is it, How big is the field of view ?

Hi Wardy. I thought so, too - it just seems that the object in question has a degree of diffuseness to it slightly more than other stars shining through the outer coma. This could be the denser inner coma making the star appear diffuse, and you would be right on. The telescope in question is the amazing 12 f/3.6 astrograph made by AstroSysteme Austria - hence the ASA.

I am of the opinion that the object is a spurious frame of the brightest part of the inner coma (or false nucleus).
