Details:
Nikon d7000, Nikkor 85mm f/1.4 @ f/5.6, exposure 140s. Near IC 1396 and Garnet Star. Field of view ~15x7.5 degrees. Don't believe this was a satellite since it wasn't in my next immediately sequenced image. Estimate explosion magnitude -3.

No doubt it is a satellite (or space junk) flare

Eirexas is right. Think about it this way. You are way zoomed in at 85mm with a 140 second exposure. Do you really think a satellite will not move across the field of view in that time? You can see its point of entry and flare- it is 100% a small satellite.
