Auroras
Taken by Fred Espenak on November 9, 2014 @ During the first night of a Melita Tours aurora trip, we were treated to a wonderful display of bright, fast moving aurora right outside our hotel in Kirkenes, Norway. Astrophotography expert Dennis Mammana gave us a lecture about capturing aurora with our digital cameras just a few hours earlier so we were ready to put that knowledge to the test. I was particularly impressed with how bright the aurora were and how they danced rapidly across the sky. This photo was taken with a Nikon D800 and 20mm f/2.8 lens, 0.5 seconds at ISO 6400.
