I was waiting in mild temperature for almost 5 hours with dim aurora display when suddenly the sky became vivid and the aurora borealis was moving fast all over the sky changing shapes and dancing for almost an hour....Beautiful Nikon D800 Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8 lens f/2.8 5/1 exposure ISO-640 Focal length 14mm

Quite special..and what on earth (or heaven) is the coneshaped thing with a dot in the base ! ?

After some research I found out that those are the flare spots. At 14mm usually they appear if sun or moon is around. In this case was the moon....even if I did not shoot directly to the moon somehow you get those flares at wide...
